Datalinx Awarded GS1 UK Accreditation
East Grinstead 1 August 2012: Datalinx Computer Systems Ltd announced today that it has been awarded GS1 UK Industry Partner status and is the 50th partner to achieve this, by GS1 UK the not-for-profit supply chain standards and solutions organisation. Datalinx has successfully passed Barcode accreditation which relates to the GS1 bar code standards.
A bar code represents numbers or letters in a machine-readable format that can be decoded, recorded and processed by a computer system when read by a bar code scanner. The data in the bar code can automatically identify their physical things like trade items (products & services), assets, logistic units, shipments, and physical locations and relationships, parties and locations at any point in the supply chain. Retailers require sellers to have a unique bar code to trade online and in-store. This makes business processes faster and accurate.
“The accreditation status demonstrates that Datalinx has a high level of knowledge and understanding of GS1 Barcode standards; a stamp of approval which many customers now look for,” said Jonathan Brown, Solution Partner Programme Manager, GS1 UK. “We are really excited that Datalinx has become our 50th partner and look forward to helping their customers achieve supply chain efficiency through bar coding.”
Datalinx’s role isnot just to provide warehousing, manufacturing and mobile solutions that integrate into Sage, but to also ensure that our customers system implementation (and for some this is their first introduction to bar codes in their business) is as smooth as possible.
Datalinx will often provide advice on bar code formats, sizing and design as well as ensuring they are readable on labels and within the warehouse. As Melvin Fletcher, Datalinx Director states; “the bar code is just the beginning of the journey.... but a fundamental step on the way to improving a business’s warehouse management and efficiency. GS1 Accreditation is key to Datalinx anddemonstrates our understanding and commitment to the future of the standards.”
