Datalinx is a software house specializing in writing, selling and supporting barcode and warehouse management systems to users of Sage accounting and ERP systems. These systems provide warehousing, job tracking and costing applications that deeply integrate to Sage 200 and Sage X3 across the world.

Due to our on-growing business expansion, we are looking to grow our UK based team. The successful candidate will join our Software and Services team at our head office in Dormansland, Surrey. As a full-time Consultant and your role will involve travelling to Client sites in the U.K. It is expected that your current role would be delivering Sage based ERP systems such as Sage 200 (or similar business systems) or you are involved in the implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

We are looking for the successful candiate to work as part of an exciting team who deliver business consultation, Installation, support, technical advice, guidance and training to a network of “Customers” around the implementation and use of Datalinx Advanced Warehouse Management System (AWMS) 200 within the Sage 200 environment. “Customers” may be Sage, Business partners, End users or Internal departments. This role has no line management responsibilities.

Day to Day Duties and Essential Skills

Purpose of the Role		Technical Skills
Work as part of an exciting team who deliver business consultation, Installation, support, technical advice, guidance and training to a network of “Customers” around the implementation and use of Datalinx Advanced Warehouse Management System (AWMS) 200 within the Sage 200 environment. “Customers” may be Sage, Business partners, End users or Internal departments. This role has no line management responsibilities. You will work with our client project delivery team to get a deep understanding of their operations so as you can guide and advise how our warehouse management system can benefit, improve and bring technology to their business. Your ability to gain the trust and have empathy with the business will be key to being successful in this role.		Working for at least 3 years implementing distribution and manufacturing within Sage 200 or WMS systems OR Be involved in the delivery of a current Warehouse Management System in the marketplace assisting businesses implement similar systems utilising barcode scanning and defining workflows in the warehouse such as Put-away and Picking Processes. Significant experience of communicating with Customers Experience and competence in writing Business Reviews and Specifications Experience creating and maintaining technical support logs Experience creating and maintaining knowledgebase pages Having an eye for detail with a thorough and methodical approach to diagnosing and documenting issues Having an analytical mind and an inquisitive nature Having an ability to absorb new information quickly An inherent curiosity regarding how things work Several years of experience using Microsoft Windows and Office suite of tools Desired Skills Knowledge of and experience using relational databases especially Microsoft SQL Server
Overall Responsibilities		Day to Day Duties
Understanding the AWMS 200 product to a functionally and technically detailed level including new product functionality as and when it becomes available – which is quite frequently Understanding the scope and objectives of the AWMS 200 product and the benefits to the Datalinx “Customers” Working with new Customers to analyse their Business requirements; performing a GAP analysis; producing specifications for any required modifications and creating implementation plans working with the commercial and scheduling teams Installing and configuring Datalinx AWMS 200 to achieve the business requirement, working with the Customer to make any necessary base Sage 200 changes Owning and being responsible for communication between Datalinx and the Customer by telephone, instant messenger, email and similar – working calmly and maintaining a professional attitude and demeanour in situations where the team or the Customer could be undergoing a high level of stress Owning and being responsible for the logging and maintenance of all information and historical activities regarding all interaction with the Customer Learning how to use Datalinx’s internal issue tracking systems and knowledgebase system Communicating effectively with AWMS 200 Engineering and support team members to gain their assistance when required and also to help them diagnose issues Communicate any deficiencies found with the Datalinx product documentation to the appropriate authority Being pro-active with and contribute to the constant improvement of the AWMS 200 product Building a strong working relationship with non-engineering members of the team Communicate with Technical Director, Development Director, Engineering Department, Product Manager, Commercial and team members regarding assigned tasks as and when necessary		Attend the offices in Dormansland When assigned a Customer – to “own” that customer (to become the Subject Matter Expert on the Customer) until the Customer project has been successfully implemented Flag up to Technical Director / Manager instances where an implementation may not be going smoothly or to plan Throughout the life cycle of implementations, communicate with the Line Manager and the Commercial/Scheduling departments advising of progress When required, aid the support teams in analysing issues/providing advice how achieve a solution to an issue Testing of Software, either specified by yourself, or more generally before a general release is issued Maintain the content of the product knowledgebase as and when new and useful information becomes available with the objective of promoting self-help, initially internally When appropriate, participate in and contribute to ad-hoc AWMS 200 functionality design discussions offering advice and guidance from the technical support point of view Document and share with other team members any acquired insights or information gleaned during day-to-day activities which could be useful to the team and project as a whole Keep a record of time spent on all working activities using the company daily time sheets
Key Responsibilities		Where the Role Sits within the Team
Provide Consultancy in accordance with company and project guidelines, methods and time-lines defined by Management Keep the Customer informed of progress Report to Commercial/Scheduling any event which might impact a successful implementation Learn to a detailed level the workings of the AWMS 200 product and learn to a similar level new areas of functionality released by Engineering, which happens frequently In the event of a new release, help to thoroughly test the product before it is circulated to the Customers Work with Management to add to and improve the AWMS 200 implementation process in a logical and coherent manner, offering suggestions as and when appropriate Create / maintain AWMS 200 technical support tickets in Datalinx’s issue tracking systems Support the other members of the team where required Regularly report to the Technical director/Commercial/Scheduling department		You will work within the AWMS 200 Team alongside other consultants, the Software Engineers, Technical Testing function, Documentation function and Infrastructure Support function. All members of the team work physically in the same location and interact constantly to ensure nothing is missed or overlooked when the team’s developments come together.

Qualifications and Experience

Creative

Educated to a “Further Education” level - Within a Computing discipline;
“Qualified By Experience” – Proven experience within the role described herein (or very similar role) which cannot be examined but carries significant weight to this company during the candidate selection process.

Experience

Have successfully worked within a team to deliver Sage 200 or a WMS system of comparable complexity to our system.
Have supported both internal and external customers on incidents for similar company products.
Have participated (including presenting) in design and review meetings.

Be able to “think laterally” or “outside the box” to design solutions to challenging problems which deliver functionality against a requirement.
Use software tools creatively to improve the efficiency of the work allocated to the role.

Examples of Work

Within this role, an example piece of work would be to:

Perform a Business review with a Customer which would document the way that AWMS 200 would be mapped to their business processes.
In the event of a significant “GAP” then, with the Customer, specify a solution and by way of a “Request for Change” seek to provide a solution.
Discuss with the commercial/scheduling department the requirements for an implementation plan.
Install and configure the software to match the business process.
Train the Customer on how to maintain and use the software.
Support the Customer through the initial learning and go-live period.
Test software produced by the Engineering department, before release to the Customers.

Package: £55,000 pa
